Stopped at a lovely “domaine” along the way and had lunch in a quiet garden. The appetizers themselves were a thing of beauty! I had scallop brochettes with a sauce made of pureed avocado floating in a balsamic raspberry vinaigrette, with a homemade cheese cracker. Karl had a shrimp salad with a citrus vinaigrette. Lots of wine, dessert – we are loving France!
This decadent dessert was eaten in Uzès after a long market day. How wonderful it tasted!
These three photos were taken at "La Tour de Mole" in Sauve. The appy was an asparagus purée with a crème mousse and a topping of summer greens. The main dish was Tiger Prawns (yes, with the head and tail still intact) on a saffron rice. Richard is enjoying his after dinner café crème and is practising his little finger technique. He's almost ready to meet royalty!
These desserts were eaten at "La Bergerie" in Anduze. I remember having the cod pâté ("brandade" is a recipe from Marseille with origins to the trade with Nouvelle-France!) on salad greens, followed by the duck in a honey sauce, and finishing with an "Île flottante" for dessert. The Île is beaten egg whites floating on a custard and topped with caramel sauce. Two more desserts that evening were the chocolate mousse and the tarte tatin.
