GRAU DU ROI: 7-V-09

Located right on the Med, there is no doubt that this is a sea town. The smell of the sea and the daily catch, the marina, the fishing boats, and of course all the shops and restaurants to attract the tourists make this a happening kind of town. It must be a zoo when the tourists arrive in droves; it’s already pretty wild.

The French language is different here and more difficult to understand. There was a tipsy woman behind us when we stopped for a beer and an Orangina, and she was mouthing something fast and loud, but we didn’t understand a word. The same could be said of the fishers who had stopped for a thirst quenching pint of beer, or a rosé wine. Their choice of beverage kind of surprised us since we had been led to believe that rosé wine (fast becoming our favourite) was a “vin de dame”, meaning a lady’s wine. I guess with a 13% alcohol content, even the hard-working fishers enjoy a glass of that nectar!
