MARSEILLE ENCORE: 22.VI.09

Here's an Encore presentation of Marseille! I do believe I enjoyed it better the second time round.

This is the little tourist train that brings you around the city.

Great architecture at every corner.

Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde was built between 1853 and 1864. This Neo-Byzantine basilica dominates the city with its belfry reaching 151 ft. high and capped by a huge gilded statue of the Virgin.

The lavishly decorated interior has coloured marble and mosaic facings.

When wandering the streets, I came across these little cars that are foot-propelled by pedals underneath. I used to have a little blue convertible just like it in my youth!
